The special awards
The aim of the PLUS X AWARD is to communicate and highlight exceptional achievements. Thus, the PLUS X AWARD not only rewards its successful participating brands and awards innovative products in its 25 industries – at regular intervals, the PLUS X AWARD also honors extraordinary industry personalities for their career and life’s work. Our jurors also present special awards for innovative research and design achievements, thus rewarding the pioneering work of renowned research & development and design teams.
The lifetime achievement award
People who have not only shaped the market with their activities over a long period of time, but have also changed it positively to a great extent, are honored with a special PLUS X AWARD award: the “Lifetime Achievement Award” – the PLUS X AWARD for lifetime achievement.
Sustainability
The topic of sustainability is playing an increasingly important role in industry: conserving resources and assuming responsibility – this puts companies under obligation. The prefabricated house manufacturer Bien-Zenker sets a good example and proves, for example with a bee meeting house, how the easily said “take responsibility” can be concretely translated into action. For its exemplary function, Bien-Zenker receives the PLUS X AWARD special award for sustainability.
Entrepreneur of the Year
In 2018, the special award was presented for the first time: The proud recipient is Gunter Kürten, who has worked in top positions at major companies in the consumer electronics industry over the past decades and fulfilled a lifelong dream by purchasing the Thorens brand. Thorens is one of the oldest German brands for consumer electronics. One special feature: the company still manufactures record players today. However, Thorens only seems to be swimming against the trend current, because record players are also becoming increasingly popular among young people.
Design Team of the Year
At regular intervals, the aim of the PLUS X AWARD is to draw attention to exceptional achievements that have set technological milestones with special awards. For the PLUS X AWARD jury of experts, the development of the Volkswagen C Coupé GTE in particular was just such a milestone.

Manager of the decade
In 2011, the PLUS X AWARD awarded the title “Manager of the Decade” for the first time to four leading industry representatives at a ceremony held at the renowned Wirtschaftsclub Düsseldorf.
